Air-dried, your hair forms clear S-shaped waves starting closer to the root than 2A, and the crown tends to frizz while the ends hold their shape. The waves have real definition but no spiral or ringlet.
Frizz at the crown while the ends stay defined. Type 2B has enough pattern to hold a shape but the shorter, finer strands at the crown escape it, which is why the top looks fuzzy while the bottom looks good.
2B hair spans the full porosity range. If your waves go crunchy and straw-like with protein-containing products, you are likely protein-sensitive and should choose protein-free conditioners.
Knowing your type is the first half. The quiz covers the other half — your porosity, scalp condition, damage level, and which ingredients your hair does not tolerate — then builds the routine around all of it.
